BOB'S FUN FITNESS LLC

As an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified, insured and CPR trained group fitness instructor in N.J., Bob Kirby has created his own fun and successful "Active Aging" program based on stretching, movement, balance, mobility, strength, yoga, meditation/mindfulness and deep breathing, all choreographed to lively music. By changing the routines, flow and exercise patterns, the participants "think" while moving. Studies confirm this has cognitive, social and physical benefits. Hundreds of attendees from ages 50 into the 90s have enjoyed participating in the classes, even those that never liked exercise before. It's never too late to get started!

MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN ONE'S LIFE

Exercise does not have to be a daunting chore involving pain and discomfort. Bob's classes are meant to be "challenging" to some; yet not be overwhelming. Modifications are used throughout the class, with safety being paramount. Fun and socialization are central themes!

Why shouldn't the senior population be entitled to affordable exercise programs? There is a strong demand for it. Let's provide those classes at as many venues as possible. Bob teaches at libraries, senior centers, municipal buildings, senior living communities, religious centers, as well privately at people's homes throughout Mercer and Middlesex counties in N.J. He sends a weekly email with health or nutritional tips.

  • BOB FREQUENTLY VARIES ASPECTS OF THE ROUTINE SO THAT IT STAYS INTERESTING AND CHALLENGING.  HE CONTINUALLY RESEARCHES SENIOR FITNESS ISSUES, CHOOSING EXERCISES AIMED AT COUNTERACTING THE AFFECT OF AGING.  HE SHARES ARTICLES OF INTEREST WITH THE ATTENDEES, ENCOURAGING US TO INTEGRATE EXERCISES INTO OUR DAILY LIVES. BOB IS ABLE TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF SENIORS WITH A WIDE RANGE OF FITNESS AND PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS.  HE OFFERS CHAIR-BASED ALTERNATIVE EXERCISES FOR THOSE WHO NEED THEM. HE DEMONSTRATES WAYS TO USE WEIGHTS OR BANDS FOR THOSE WHO ARE READY FOR GREATER CHALLENGES. HE BECOMES FAMILIAR WITH EACH ATTENDEE’S INDIVIDUAL LIMITATIONS, ALERTING THEM WHEN A PARTICULAR MOVEMENT MAY NOT BE APPROPRIATE GIVEN THEIR KNEE/SHOULDER/HIP ISSUE. THROUGHOUT THE CLASS, BOB KEEPS US LAUGHING AS WE SWEAT. HE CREATES A SENSE OF COMMUNITY WITHIN THE GROUP, AND A SUPPORTIVE CULTURE WHERE NO ONE FEELS EMBARRASSED BY THEIR LIMITATIONS.
